Lights Will Guide You Home

Coldplay’s “Fix You” comes to mind, no?  Click the image for the video to see how it works.

Commissioned by Yamaguchi Center for Arts And Media (YCAM)
for their fifth anniversary, as part of the Yuda Art Project.
Supported by The British Council, Tokyo

‘Array’ is a field of columns set in the courtyard of the Chuya Nakahara
Memorial Museum in Southern Japan. The columns create a field of
light and sound which gently shifts in response to the viewers’ movements,
via a hidden network of ultrasonic sensors. Each column is lit by a pure,
shimmering white light. This forest of light light calls you in, and its response
to your movement invites you to explore. Inside the grid lives a spirit,
in the form of a single pure red light. This spirit is timid but often playful,
revealing itself boldly then disappearing.

For a “Type Explorations” project, I put together this little video illustrating a little speech made by Spike on Angel the Series. Created in After Effects. Not 100% satisfied with it, but pretty close =)

It’s based off of this clip [watch for context-y reasons] “In the Dark” – Angel the Series

And now my vid: Magnificent Poof

Earlier today I was in Chapters and while browsing through some graphic design magazines I stumbled across this little gem (refer to title). It was pretty neat, had everything from tutorials, to links to plugins, fonts, brushes, etc. What really stood out for me though is the level of detail and clarity present in the magazine, which i believe is key for any sort of understanding of the techniques described. So if you’re getting into Photoshop I highly recommend checking it out, they offer a lot of their tutorials online as well on their site. http://www.pshopcreative.co.uk/
